Ruffled Leggings

These can be altered and made to fit any size girl.  The pattern is written to fit a toddler, size 3T.  To make smaller, use less beginning chains (to fit around calf) and/or make less rows (shorter length).  To make larger, use more beginning chains (to fit around calf) and/or make more rows (longer length).

Materials:
Red Heart "With Love" yarn in your choice of color (I used Grape Jam)
I Hook

Ch 20.  Join with sl st to form ring.
R1: Ch 3.  DC in each st around.  Join in top of first DC made.
R2-R10: Ch 3.  DC in back loops only of each st around.  Join in top of first DC made.

To make ruffles, you will work backward on the rows you've already made.

R11: Ch 2.  4 DC in each st around.  Join with sl st.
R12-15: Ch 1.  Sl st around post of ch 2 in previous round.  Ch 1.  Sl st in the base of the ch 3.  Ch 3. 4 DC in each free loop around legwarmer.  (For info about crocheting in the free loops, check out the Ruffled Scarf Pattern)  Join with sl st.

You can go on to make the entire legwarmer ruffled if you like.  Simply continue creating ruffles all the way back over the legwarmer.

  1. These are absolutely adorable! I am having a bit of trouble with the ruffles though. I am not a beginner but not a pro either so I am hoping you can clarify for me :) R12-15, can you please help me clarify what is the post and base of the stitches? Thanks!
